Mappings (2)
Static public IP addresses Direct match
Elastic IP addresses map to static external IP addresses, regional or global, and BYOIP lets you bring your own public ranges.
- Global static IPs are anycast addresses for global load balancers.
- A static IP is charged when reserved but unused, and also while attached to a VM (running or stopped); IPs on forwarding rules are not charged.
Internet gateway (inbound and outbound internet access) Partial match
There is no internet gateway resource. Every VPC network has a default route to the default internet gateway; VMs with external IP addresses use it directly, and private VMs use Cloud NAT.
- Internet access is controlled by routes, firewall rules, and whether a VM has an external IP.
- IPv6 egress uses the same default route; there is no egress-only gateway resource.
