Blue/green database upgrades No equivalent
Azure has no managed blue/green deployment for databases like Amazon RDS Blue/Green Deployments. Azure PostgreSQL offers in-place major version upgrades, and you can build a blue/green pattern yourself with read replicas or logical replication.
- RDS creates and syncs the green environment, then switches over with guardrails (and works with RDS Proxy to reduce downtime). Azure's in-place upgrade keeps the server name and connection string, but involves downtime and can't be tested on a live copy first, so test on a restored copy.
