Data labeling (human + ML-assisted) No equivalent
Azure no longer has a first-party equivalent of SageMaker Ground Truth. Azure Machine Learning data labeling retired on September 30, 2026, and Microsoft points to third-party labeling providers. Ground Truth itself is in maintenance (no new customers).
- Both first-party labeling services are winding down. Azure's is retired and its data was deleted on Sep 30, 2026. AWS's Ground Truth accepts no new customers, Ground Truth Plus was shut down June 30, 2026, and the Mechanical Turk workforce option ended Sep 30, 2026.
- For new projects on either cloud, plan on a third-party or open-source labeling tool and copy the labels into your ML storage.
