AWS equivalent of Azure Functions
The closest AWS equivalents of Azure Functions are AWS Lambda (Event Functions), Lambda function URLs and Amazon EventBridge Scheduler.

Serverless functions (FaaS) Direct match
The Azure equivalent of AWS Lambda is Azure Functions. Both run event-triggered code on managed infrastructure, but Azure Functions has several hosting plans, and its declarative bindings have no counterpart on Lambda.
- Hosting. Lambda has one service, with optional Managed Instances. Azure Functions runs on Flex Consumption (recommended serverless), Premium, Dedicated (App Service), Container Apps, or legacy Consumption. The Linux Consumption plan retires Sep 30, 2028.
- Triggers and bindings. Lambda uses event source mappings and service integrations (200+ AWS services). Azure Functions uses triggers plus input and output bindings that read from and write to services declaratively.
- Concurrency. A Lambda Event Function handles one request per environment by default. Flex Consumption has configurable per-instance concurrency.
Built-in HTTPS endpoint for a function Direct match
Lambda function URLs map to the HTTP trigger in Azure Functions. Both give a function its own HTTPS endpoint with built-in auth options.
- Auth. Function URLs use AWS_IAM (SigV4) or NONE (public) with resource policies. Azure HTTP triggers use function, host, or admin keys or anonymous access, plus App Service Authentication (Entra ID and other providers).
- Streaming. Function URLs support response streaming. Azure Functions supports HTTP streams in the isolated .NET and Python models (check language support).
- Routing. A function URL maps to one function. Azure function apps host many HTTP functions under one host name with route templates.

Serverless scheduler Partial match
Amazon EventBridge Scheduler has no single-service Azure equivalent. On Azure, schedules are built with the Functions timer trigger, Logic Apps recurrence or schedule triggers, or Container Apps scheduled jobs.
- EventBridge Scheduler is one central service for millions of schedules (cron, rate, one-time, time zones, flexible windows) that invoke 270 AWS services directly.
- On Azure, scheduling is a feature of each compute service. Timer triggers (NCRONTAB) in Functions, recurrence triggers in Logic Apps, and cron-based Container Apps jobs. Service Bus scheduled messages cover one-time delayed delivery.
