Managed open table storage (Apache Iceberg) Partial match
Amazon S3 Tables (Iceberg table buckets) maps most closely to Microsoft Fabric OneLake. OneLake stores tables in Delta Lake format and can expose them as Iceberg (and Iceberg as Delta) through metadata virtualization. Azure Blob Storage itself has no table bucket type.
- Native format. S3 Tables is Iceberg-native. OneLake is Delta-first, and Iceberg works through virtualized metadata and shortcuts.
- Platform. S3 Tables is a storage feature you use from Athena, Redshift, EMR, or any Iceberg engine. OneLake comes with Microsoft Fabric and is used through a Fabric capacity.
- Maintenance. S3 Tables automatically compacts files and manages snapshots. In Fabric, table maintenance runs from Fabric workloads.
