Shared function dependencies (layers) No equivalent
Azure Functions has no equivalent of Lambda layers. On Azure, dependencies are packaged with each function app, or you use a custom container image to share a base layer.
- Lambda layers are versioned .zip archives mounted at /opt, up to five per function, and only for .zip-packaged functions. Container-image functions use image layers instead.
- On Azure Functions, one function app holds many functions that share one deployment package and dependency set, which removes some of the reasons for layers. For cross-app sharing, use internal package feeds or a shared base container image.
