Online file and object migration Partial match
AWS DataSync maps to Azure Storage Mover (managed migration from NFS, SMB, and S3 sources) and AzCopy (command-line copy, including directly from S3). Microsoft's comparison page pairs DataSync with Azure File Sync, but File Sync is for ongoing sync of Windows servers, not migration.
- Direction. DataSync moves data into, out of, and between AWS storage services, including from Azure Blob Storage, Azure Files, and Google Cloud Storage. Storage Mover moves data into Azure only.
- Sources. Storage Mover supports NFS and SMB shares (through an agent) and AWS S3, with FSx SMB and Google Cloud Storage in preview. Objects in S3 Glacier classes must be restored first.
- Cost. DataSync bills per GB transferred. Storage Mover features are currently free, and AzCopy is a free tool, so you pay only for storage, transactions, and network.
